Although little known outside the U.K., the Syn were one of prog-rockís first innovators and regulars at Londonís Marquee Club where they opened for the Who, Pink Floyd, Cream and, most memorably, Jimi Hendrix's first-ever U.K. performance, the latter in front of the Beatles and Rolling Stones. More than 40 years later, original members Chris Squire (who would go on to be the founding bassist of prog superstars Yes) and vocalist Stephen Nardelli have reformed the group, recording an album of all new material titled Syndestructible. The CD hits U.S. retail shelves on Nov. 8 via the groupís own Umnbrello Records and indie distributor ADA. The first single is called "Cathedral of Love." The band will return to the Marquee the week of the albumís release. (10/5p)
